The AMC course offers students training in the fundamental areas of chemistry, i.e., organic, inorganic, physical, and biological chemistry. In the first year students are taught general science subjects and Japanese language. In the second year, specific chemistry courses and general science laboratory classes are provided. In the third year students can take electives on advanced topics in chemistry and engage in research projects under the direction of a faculty member by joining one of the research laboratories listed in the next section. In the fourth year students continue work on their research project and prepare their graduation thesis.
