The Japanese government (MEXT) has set up the financial support program for students who are living independently and struggling financially to continue their studies because their income from part-time employment has dropped since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Such students are eligible - upon application and screening - to receive a cash payment from the government.

Those who wish to apply should first read the "Program Overview" on the MEXT website: https://www.mext.go.jp/a_menu/koutou/hutankeigen/mext_00686.html

For the application, you should go through two-step application process: 1. Online application and 2. submitting the required socuments by post

Step 1: Online Application (Deadline: June 3, 2020)

Submit the online application form using DCMail.
Students should submit the online application form first by June 3, before sending the supporting documents by post.
This is to facilitate the screening process.

Step 2: Submit the required documents by post (Deadline: June 10, 2020)

Submit the required application documents (Form 1 & 2) by registered mail along with the supporting documents specified in the online application.
