The Mizuho International Foundation invites you to apply for the "Foreign Scholarship Students (in Science, Engineering, etc. majors) 2021".

▶ Eligibility
〇 Those who are in a regular undergraduate or graduate program as of October 2021 (incl. research students plan to enroll in a regular program)
〇 Those who can participate and cooperate in events organized by the Foundation.
〇 Applicants must be in Sendai on April 1, 2021 (those who are in self-quarantine are NOT eligible).
※There is no limit in the number of recommendations from the School of Science, but only one person from the same country can be recommended.
※In principle, students who are currently receiving or applying for other scholarships are not eligible.

▶ Scholarship Amount
100,000 yen/month

▶ How to apply
Please check the application guidelines below and submit the application materials to the section in charge by post.
If you have been allowed to come to the campus, you can visit the office and hand in the documents.
(Please also send an e-mail to the section to inform that you have posted the materials.)

▶ Application Materials
(1) Application form
・Using PC is acceptable, but the signature in the last page must be put by hand.
・It is allowed to be filled in English, but it is certainly better to be put in Japanese.
(As all events by the foundation will be conducted in Japanese, high proficiency in Japanese is required)
・As for the "Emergency Contact", please avoid using your international friend's one.
(Because the friend may not be in Japan when needed)
(2) Letter of recommendation (designated form)
・It should be written by your academic advisor.
・No need for you to prepare ANOTHER type of recommendation letter "推薦書" mentioned in the guideline
(3) Certificate of enrollment
・If you plan to advance in April or October 2021, a document that certifies your advancement is needed.
(4) Academic Transcript
・From the undergraduate program, and up to the latest one
(5) Residence Record
(6) Health Certificate
(7) Copy of Residence Card (both sides)

▶ Other
Candidates recommended by the university will take an interview at Tohoku University in late May or June.
