"Emergency Support Benefit" Notice

Have you received a notice from the City of Sendai recently?

This is about the "Emergency Support Benefit for Rising Prices of Electricity, Gas, Food, etc.", to which if you are eligible, 50,000 JPY will be paid. This benefit is provided to households whose finances are particularly affected by the increased burden caused by the recent rise in prices of electricity, gas, food, etc.

The notices are sent to the following households either with low-income or new to Sendai:

1. Those who are considered eligible by Sendai city (judged by income etc. of 2021)
2. Those who are new to Sendai, moved in between January 2 and September 30. The city is not sure whether they are eligible, because it does not have access to their financial situation for 2021. (We believe that newcomers from overseas who did not earn income in 2021 in Japan are eligible.)

To those who fall in category #1, the city sends envelopes with the application form.
-> Please go ahead and apply!

-> If you received this one, you should call the 'Hotline (0120-489-048)*' or visit special consultation counters at ward offices** to ask if you are eligible and obtain the application form.
