The Mizuho International Foundation invites you to apply for the "Foreign Scholarship Students (in Science, Engineering, etc. majors) 2026".
▶ Eligibility
・Those enrolled in a regular undergraduate or graduate program as of October 2026 (including research students who plan to enroll in a regular program).
・Those who will have at least one and a half years remaining in their enrollment as of October 2026.
・Those who are 35 years of age or younger as of October 2026.
*Since all Foundation events are conducted in Japanese, high proficiency in Japanese is required.
*There is no limit to the number of recommendations from the School of Science; however, only one person from the same country can be recommended.
*In principle, students who are currently receiving other scholarships are not eligible.
However, it may be combined with university-administered scholarships and research stipends such as LEAP, provided the total monthly amount does not exceed 120,000 yen.

▶ Scholarship Period
From October 2026 for a maximum of two years

Please check the application guidelines below and submit the application materials to the Student Support Section in person.

▶ Application Materials
(1) Application form
・Using PC is acceptable, but the signature in the last page must be put by hand.
・It is allowed to be filled in English, but it is preferable to use Japanese.
・As for the "Emergency Contact", please avoid using your international friend's one.
(Because the friend may not be in Japan when needed)
(2) Letter of recommendation (designated form)
・Must be written by your supervisor.
(3) Certificate of enrollment
(4) Academic Transcript
・From the undergraduate program, and up to the latest one
(5) Copy of Residence Card (both sides)
(6) Financial Statement
(7) About Scholarship Applications

Candidates who passed the document screening will take interviews with foundation representatives at Tohoku University from late May to June.
(Interviews may be conducted online.)
