1.What kind of work do you engage in?

I am a technical staff of the surface physics laboratory, and good at electrical and computer engineering.
We are interested in the physical properties of surfaces and nanostructures, in particular, surface plasmons, surface phonons, and nanocluster growth in the atomic level. The morphology is observed by scanning tunneling microscopy(STM) and the electronic states are measured by high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy(HREELS).
I am designing parts and doing experiments with faculty and students.
The experiments are performed under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) condition and I am very nervous, but I am feeling very happy.

2.What originally motivated you to be a technical staff?

When I was a junior high school student, my father gave me a MD/CD device for music.
I was surprised it very much because the sound was so clear, the design was very nice, and it is easy to handle. I wish I could create such devices or machines.
Now, I am working in the surface physics laboratory. I design parts and equipment for experiments, and use them in experiments. Knowledge and technology of electronical a computer engineering are very useful, and I am enjoying my job.
