I synthesize complex with the use of lithium atom in fullerene and try to apply it to catalyst. This is a new theme originated from Tohoku University. Thus, I experiment every day with the real joy such that my research result develops this field.

Japanese high school students don’t usually study “Why?” in chemistry lessons because it is important to memorize the whole thing. One day, my teacher said “Although this is out of the textbook ...”, and he started to explain π-bond, σ-bond, and orientation of aromatic compounds by the use of election orbital. Then, I was able to understand smoothly subjects what I have no other choice than to memorize. It made me want to learn about chemistry in more detail, and thus I had headed for the chemistry department. At first, I was interested in organic chemistry. But, I was impressed by originality and utility of organometallic complexes when I took an inorganic class. Hence, I chose this laboratory where I can organic and inorganic chemistry.

You may have a lot of free time in University and much information may confuse you. Thus you may be aware of your surroundings and don’t know what to do. Even in this situation, I want you to live in ways you like. Please find what you devote yourself to such as research, circle, studying abroad, part-time job, and hobby etc. I got absorbed in cheering group. Through the various activity with many people, I saw the world that I didn’t know, and I could grow. If you are serious about doing it, It does not come to nothing and you learn irreplaceable things if you are serious about doing it.
