I love to pursue universal reactivity of molecular entities.



1.What kind of the research are you doing?

I am exploring new chemical reaction; new processes to cleave and form a chemical bond. I have focused on the use of transition metal, such as copper and gold, as catalysts, and rearrangement reaction as a transformation, which is free from generation of undesired byproducts. I have a dream that our developed method will enable to synthesize organic molecules contributing to welfare of humanity.

2.What is the reason for starting your study?

In my childhood, I faced one proverb “Tigers leaves a skin behind him. A great man will be remembered for his achievements” and I always asked myself “how I should live in”. It is a natural consequence for me to select chemistry, which is concretely backed by scientific basis and colored by variety of elements. When I started real research in my 4th-year of the undergraduate school with handling organic molecules, designing reactions based on my own idea, struggling with so many mistakes, and finally finding unknown reaction, I realized “This is it!” I think that the emotion to find new reaction is as if to get a goal in W-cup. I love to pursue universal reactivity of molecular entities.

3.Message for prospective students

It is really fun to do experiments. There are so many chances to discover new reactions and new functions by molecular design. Sendai is very suitable for studying science. It is also happy to meet many friends all over the world beyond generations. It is wonderful!
